How to Fix Paint Peeling On Car? When he received a black and red edition Fiesta, he realised it wasn’t simply the localised lacquer peeling that was the problem. Car Cosmetics in Aldershot, an independent body shop specialising in SMART repairs and detailing, provides a variety of bodywork repairs as well as high-end paint correction and protection services. Jaime demonstrates how to restore the lustre of a low-quality paint job, including a localised repair for peeling paint.

How to Fix Paint Peeling On Car?

1. Mask Local Area and Sand Peeling Paint

It is critical to mask the headlight and trimmings before sanding. I used a one-inch Premium Masking Tape for this stage. After masking the area, I used a 320-grit handheld sander to remove the damaged lacquer until it was smooth and free of defects.

2. Priming to Fix Paint Peeling On Car

Mask a larger area with more than one-inch tape and Premium Masking Drop Film so that you can prime the localised damage without worrying about overspray. Use a pro-XL high-build primer to prime the area, which has quick drying periods and is great for creating two coats on a tiny area.

With tape along one side, you may establish an instant barrier without having to apply different materials to the car, which can be time-consuming and inconvenient.

The number plate on this vehicle is hard cemented in place. I recommend using Foam Masking Tape to create a nice finishing border behind the number plate. Masking tape is then used to protect the number plate. When big areas need to be covered and protected, use Premium Protective Film, which can be swiftly pulled up and over any vehicle.

3. Refinish the Damaged Area on the Bumper

Keep the paint blend local and apply three coats once the area has been prepped and masked with an ANI r150 1.0 gun. Dry each coat for around five minutes with a heat gun, then apply an infrared lamp to the bumper to speed up the drying period of the base coat.

During this stage, Roberlo vt141 lacquer was combined five to one – ideal for tiny repairs that require quick drying. To provide a flawless finish on the bumper, a short tack and blow were performed right before the lacquer application.

Apply two coats of lacquer one after the other, with a two-minute flash-off in between. With one final infrared bake, use Pro XL smart blend to assist flow out the region where the lacquer finished.

4. Complete Paint Correction and Detailing

When performing a paint correction and detailing job, use a variety of machine polishers. To eliminate swirls and enhance the paint job on the pillars and roof, I used a rupes lhr75e with microfibre pads.

This is a two-step procedure: first, cut through the surface to de-swirl and remove scratches. Once finished, polish the paintwork.
