Exterior

The Highlander comes standard with a 265-hp 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and either front- or all-wheel drive. We haven’t driven this version yet, but when we do, we’ll be able to remark on its performance. The Highlander Hybrid’s 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and two electric motors provide 243 horsepower. This model comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) with the option of front- or all-wheel drive.

Using Toyota’s hybrid expertise, this powertrain gives consumers with something significantly more fuel efficient than the normal model without sacrificing much in terms of speed; at our test track, the last hybrid model we tested reached 60 mph in 7.3 seconds.
