The most noticeable change in the 2019 Proton Saga is the placement of the centre air-conditioning vents, which are now lower to enable a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system (only on Premium variant).
Despite being a budget automobile, the fabric seat materials are waterproof and surprisingly soft on the skin. The steering rack can also be tilted, which is an advantage over the Perodua Bezza’s fixed steering rack. The steering of the Proton Bezza cannot be adjusted.
Although the cabin light is now LED, this does not imply that it is of good quality. The lighting is brilliant, but it shines in the wrong areas, illuminating your eyes rather than the rest of the room. The back is still dimly illuminated.
The 2017 Proton Saga’s driving qualities are above average for a budget car, significantly better than a Perodua Bezza.
0-100 km/h takes 14.6 seconds in our tests, whereas 0-100-0 km/h takes 18.8 seconds and 45.8 metres.
It drives as a cheap car should at highway speeds, although it feels a lot more planted than a Perodua Bezza.
It handles well in corners for its size, though the light steering (retuned for the new Proton Saga) doesn’t self-centre as much as you’d expect from a conservatively tuned city car.
