The Stelvio’s turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 280 horsepower and is mated to an eight-speed automated transmission. The base model comes standard with rear-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available and standard on the rest of the lineup. While the engine performed admirably in our testing and sounded fantastic, the Stelvio’s sole configuration—aside from the high-performance Quadrifoglio—reduces customer options and limits towing to a maximum of 3000 pounds.
During normal driving, we appreciated the quick throttle and smooth power delivery. Its raspy exhaust noise sounded energetic and fitting for this application. Aside from its attractive look, the Stelvio has athletic handling and a comfortable ride.
The Stelvio, like the Giulia sedan, has a beautiful cabin and a comfortable driving posture. Carbon-fiber trim is available on sportier models, but wood inlays are available for those desiring a more upmarket appearance.
